If you’re passionate about cooking, this apprenticeship is for you! Learn the skills and speed you need in the kitchen in order to cook meals for guests and hold your own in a cook-off.
Learn valuable lessons from chefs and restaurant owners that have competed on national television! You’ll discover off-the-record details of cooking on shows and the behind-the-scenes life as a chef! Smile pretty – your apprenticeship will culminate in a filmed cook-off right at Farina Restaurant in SF!
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be at the peak of your culinary prowess, equipped with essential culinary skills and ready to compete on camera in a cook-off!

Baking with Food Network Youth Star
Youth Pastry Chef Payton, from The Food Network‘s Kids’ Baking Championship will teach us a few of his recipes inspired by his time competing on national televsion! He’ll also be sharing his behind-the-scenes story of dining with President Obama and his time training with the Executive Pastry Chef of Delfina!
Cooking Workshop and Filmed Cook-Off with Chopped Champion
Chopped Champions Mario Tolentino and Mark Liberman will be speaking to the us through the week, teaching us how to cook up delectable dishes under time constraints! Our celebrity mentor will also tell us the ins and outs of what it is really like to cook on television! Plus! The San Francisco Restaurant Farina will be welcoming us into their professional kitchens for a filmed cook-off, led and judged by none other than Chopped Champion Mario Tolentino! Your child will have the opportunity to showcase their new skills, and cook their way to a delicious victory!
Farmers Market Trip
Alice Waters has always said that the quality of the ingredients are the most important part of your recipe. And we agree! We’ll have the opportunity to visit our local famers market and meet the famers who from the ingredients we love to cook with! Seasonality will no longer be just a buzz word after our afternoon at the market!

To celebrate our newly honed skills, Chef Mark, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of AQ, will welcome us into his state-of-the art kitchen and help us prepare a 4-course feast for 50+ family and friends! Graduated apprentices will help prep, cook, and plate! Once our guests arrive, the apprentices will sit down to enjoy their meal right alongside their family and friends.
*Please note that the dinner will be held on Monday, August 1st.
Master Chef Apprenticeships by the Numbers
Apprentices: 9-14 year-olds
10-15 Apprentices and 2 Junior Apprentices per week
This includes all workshops, ingredients, tasters, and meals! The camp fee does not include transportation between culinary sites or personal market money.
*No prior cooking experience is required – just a passion for the culinary arts!
Thank you for your donation! A significant portion of this camp fee goes directly to financial-based scholarships offered during camps and throughout the year, and goes to subsidize our Chef-In-Training Program for disadvantaged youth. Please contact us to receive your tax-deductible receipt!
