Strawberry Shortcakes, Whipped Cream, and Berry Compote!
Our culinary journey will start at South Berkeley’s bustling Farmers’ Market, where our youth chefs will meet and greet with Sprouts’ farmer friends and learn about locality and seasonality as we snag a few ingredients for our summer strawberry shortcakes with fresh whipped cream ‘n berry compote! After we’ve finished exploring and tasting, we’ll wave goodbye to our market friends and bus over to our outdoor kitchen and organic garden. Aprons on and sleeves rolled, we’ll learn the secret to making delicious strawberry shortcakes cooked on an iron skillet right on the grill (say whaaat!?). To add to our flavor frenzy, we’ll learn how to make decadent fresh whipped cream with Straus cream and top it off with a home-made berry compote with some herbs from our garden! If we finish in time, we might even get to do some harvesting at our garden! You gotta join us – this is gonna be a ridiculously delicious day!
