Story: Growing up in Oakland among foster parents, the streets, and his own family, Tyrell did not have an easy childhood. Today he is living on his own, and supporting himself as he attends Sprouts’ Chef-Training program and Merritt Community College. Tyrell has always enjoyed cooking, especially for its ability to bring joy to others. Tyrell formerly worked at In-N-Out burger, and dreams of opening his own restaurant one day. He plans to learn a lot from his chef mentor Nelson German at alaMar Kitchen & Bar about what it takes to reach this goal.
